Foss is situated at the west end of the south shore of Loch Tummel next to Loch Tummel Sailing Club (LTSC website). Both of our rental properties have stunning views across the loch to the North, East and West.

The CottageThe Cottage is double-glazed throughout, has electric cooking and heaters, and has a recently completely refitted bathroom with a bath and electric shower. The two bedrooms both have double beds and the smaller of the two has a bunk bed to suit younger visitors and families. The large sitting room has leather seating and combines a dining room with a French window out toward the loch.

The Stable Loft has a well appointed electric kitchen and combines with the main sitting room. The two bedrooms are twin and double respectively. The bathroom has a bath and a power shower running hot water from the hot tank.

Changeover day is Saturday, late afternoon, and we provide linen including towels. Electricity is paid for via a card meter, which will be replenished prior to your arrival.

Websites and general research prior to your holiday:

  • Highland Perthshire website: www.goperthshire.com
  • Finding Foss: www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk; click on "I want to Get-a-map now!" and use the PH16 5NQ postcode. We're East of the "jetty", and you can zoom in to actually see the house!

Loch Tummel is on the Road To The Isles, famous from the song (lyrics). It is a designated site of special scenic significance, and power boats (apart from safety boats in the sailing club) are restricted to 4HP - no speedboats and jetskis running up and down the loch.

The Sailing Club is very active throughout the summer and holds several regattas and week-long events - www.lochtummelsailingclub.co.uk.

To the West is Loch Rannoch and Rannoch Station, where you can jump on a steam train during the summer and head for the west coast, the line terminating at Mallaig - a comfortable day-out from Foss. The line is called the West Highland Line - www.scotrail.co.uk/scotrwhl.htm.

There are several Munros in the local area including Schiehallion and Ben Lawers in Loch Tay to the SW. Both are marvellous walks.

Foss is perfectly suited for trips up into the Cairngorms and out to the West Coast by car. There is a short-cut across Tummel Bridge, Trinafour and Glen Garry, joining the A9 northbound at Dalnacardoch.

Fort William, Inverness, Dundee and Aberdeen are all comfortable days out. Our main town for shopping apart from Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, 9 and 10 miles respectively is Perth and there's a large farmers market on Fridays, where sheep and cattle are sold under the hammer - www.uagroup.co.uk.

In all directions, there is a wide selection of places to eat out and enjoy an evening out.
